The Kelly Clarkson Show

When The Kelly Clarkson Show relocated from Los Angeles to New York in 2023, designer James Pearse Connelly conceived an entirely new set: an intimate, urban, Soho-style recording studio built inside a space where decades of prior productions had left structural and electrical infrastructure that the new build had to work around.
Working in close collaboration with Connelly, Hudson Scenic Studios engineered and fabricated the sleek set with its scenically finished brick accents and walnut-slatted walls, threading thousands of feet of LED tape invisibly through the slats and studio walls, all wires and controls carefully routed through the walls and ceilings to avoid extant infrastructure.
At the center of the room is Kelly Clarkson's band, Y'all, who stay part of the show throughout every taping. Hudson engineered their platform as a rolling, steel-framed structure built to carry the real weight of drums and live instruments across the studio floor, with wirelessly controlled lighting built in so the whole platform can shift and reposition mid-show without a single cable to manage. The result is a set that moves and presents - on camera and off - flawlessly.
