Since 1980, our engineering, carpentry, automation, and finishing departments collectively draw from decades of hands-on experience in the shop and on site to bring creative, economical solutions and best practices to our clients.

Facilities 

HUDSON has two locations: offices in the heart of Manhattan and our fabrication shop in Yonkers, New York. The shop includes two adjacent buildings with over 120,000 sq. ft. of space, all located less than 30 minutes from Grand Central Terminal.

130 Fernbrook is the first building HUDSON acquired in the area and is the pump house of Hudson Scenic fabrication. This 40,000 sq. ft. facility is home to our metal and wood fabrication teams, machine shop, CNC, paint shop, crane bay and a 13,000 sq. ft. setup space.

HUDSON expanded its facilities to 78 Fernbrook St. in 2009, which includes our large-scale setup space with an open floor 200’ long by 80’ wide.

Combined, our facility has: 

  • 50,000 sq. ft. of production space

  • 12,500 sq. ft. of trial set up space @ 30ft clear height

  • 17,500 sq. ft. of trial set up space @ 40ft clear height

  • 40,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space

  • 6 truck height docks 

  • 10 ton gantry crane

At HUDSON, the client is our top priority. Every project is assigned a dedicated project manager who will shepherd it from the earliest bid drawings to final installation. Project management works across all of our departments to save our clients both time and money. Whether it's helping select the best materials, the method of fabrication or finding solutions to help our clients meet their budget goals, HUDSON has the technical and industry know-how to ensure a job well done.

HUDSON's dedicated team of designers and engineers follow a project through every phase of its life, from initial engineering to fabrication to installation on site, ensuring a product that is safe, efficient, and true to its artistic intent. Through thoughtful planning, as well as years of production experience, we find creative solutions for any challenge and transform the most complex designs from ideas to reality.

Carpentry, Fabrication & CNC

HUDSON's carpentry shop is filled with some of the best craftspeople in our industry. They include artisan furniture makers, framing carpenters, upholsterers, and master carpenters.

Our crew works closely with technical designers and project managers to solve artistic and build challenges so that we can deliver a stunning product to our clients. 

 

We also incorporate sophisticated CNC techniques to offer the perfect marriage of craftsmanship and efficiency.

Metal Fabrication

Metal Fabrication & Machine Shop

HUDSON offers one of the most flexible and productive metal fabrication facilities in the industry. We specialize in carbon steel, aluminum, and stainless fabrication. Each year, we work through an excess of 160 tons of steel and 250,000 linear feet of aluminum. 

 

Our dedicated team of experienced machinists use everything from CNC milling machines to metal lathes to create fabrications to the highest tolerances available. Our operators are qualified under AWS B2.1 / B2.1M:2014 and adhere to guidelines laid out in AWS Structural Welding Codes D1.1, D1.2, D1.3, and D1.6.  We also employ a full-time AWS Certified Welding Inspector.

Lighting & Electrification

HUDSON's Electrics shop specializes in creative solutions for a technical world. We maintain and service a comprehensive inventory of all types of electrics, including incandescents, neon, smart foil and LED. Installing over 40,000 individual LED nodes and miles of pixel tape annually, HUDSON is able to convert almost any surface into a seamless video display. We also build and install automation and control racks, LED screens, hydraulic pumps and actuators, all powered by miles of cable.

Faux Finishing, Coatings & Scenic Paint 

HUDSON has an accomplished scenic and finishing department comprised of artists and sculptors who are dedicated to the details. Our 400 sq. ft. paint booth allows our artists to apply high-end and high-performance finishes, while an additional 7,200 sq. ft. of space is dedicated to layout, sculpting and upholstery. HUDSON artists are experts at celebrating the inherent materials while applying faux finishes for our architectural clients as well as creating stunning scenic pieces for theatre and entertainment.

Rigging & Rentals

Rigging, Rentals & Installations

HUDSON is one of the most comprehensive rigging and staging providers in the country. With both steel deck and our proprietary speed deck systems available to rent or buy, we provide staging solutions for projects of all sizes. In addition, we have over 500 chain hoists and 20,000 linear feet of rigging. HUDSON offers an extensive stock of 12" and 20.5" truss in standard lengths and will fabricate custom trusses to suit our clients' needs. We can also provide riggers to design and install any temporary rigging system, including ETCP certified crew.  

HUDSON's team designs, installs, and maintains permanent rigging and fly systems for a wide variety of venues and projects. From traditional theatre spaces to unique and complex projects, our team can manage your rigging needs.
