The Rocky Horror Show

For the 2026 Broadway revival of The Rocky Horror Show, design collective dots invented an immersive theatrical environment that embraced the musical's hallmark campy, punk rock energy and traditional, low-tech stagecraft. The sets consist of manually rolled-on and flown-in static scenery, a faux proscenium, an expanded stage, and set dressing built from sourced material and custom-fabricated elements that extends into the auditorium and front of house. All of it needed to look and feel scrappy, while still holding up to Broadway-caliber craftsmanship and durability across an extended run.
Hudson Scenic Studios collaborated closely with dots on the engineering and fabrication of key elements to ensure each piece was equal parts camp and craft. This included the lavish Frankenstein Place foyer; Dr. Frank-N-Furter's lab with faux brick, black wood, and silver insulation-covered walls and integrated lighting; the roll-on bedroom; a monitor set with integrated marquee lighting; a flying moon with a tinfoil-like treatment and glossy black accents; and a custom "Don't Dream It, Be It" flown-in lighting fixture. Hudson also built the new stage deck and apron with integrated lighting, speaker grilles, and fog jets, the false proscenium towers with second-story balconies flanking it, and the aluminum conduit and green rope lights trailing from the proscenium into the audience and front of house.
