Hadestown

Hadestown plays in an intimate Broadway house where nearly every seat sits close to the stage, and scenic designer Rachel Hauck wanted that proximity to pull audiences into an immersive underworld experience.
Hudson Scenic Studios treated every surface of the set with hyper-realistic faux finishes to suggest the heat of a hellish town, then engineered a motion-controlled wall that splits into thirds as if opening the gates to the underworld, alongside a first-of-its-kind triple-revolve turntable deck with a custom central lift, built to move performers out of sight beyond the depth the existing stage allowed.
